Getting Fit in Baltimore in 2023 and Beyond

Jan 23, 2023

The new year has finally arrived, and everyone is embarking on their New Year's resolutions. A common resolution is to get fit. If this was your resolution, then you’ve already begun your fitness journey, but it can help you stay motivated to try different things. At Anthem House, we’ve created a list of the best places to get fit in Baltimore, so you can mix up your routine, stay motivated, and get fit:

Starting right at home is the Anthem House Gym, one of the many amenities available to residents. Partake in group fitness classes and gather with Anthem community so you can work on your fitness regimes, together.

Right here in Locust Point, be sure to check out Reflex Functional Fitness. They offer several different group classes and personal trainers are available to help you out based on your own personal goals and needs. If you’re not sure where to start, Reflex also has special training programs that can help guide you in different areas, such as self-defense or triathlon training.

With various locations all across the city, Merritt Clubs aims to help all of their members strengthen their bodies with state-of-the-art facilities. Any new members will receive help from staff members to establish achievable goals personalized for you. The closest location is right on Fort Avenue, meaning you won’t have to travel far to get there!

Grind is a gym located in the historic Power Plant Building Downtown with a nice waterfront view. They offer several different services, such as personal training, a dietitian, physical therapy, and even a barbershop! There are no contracts when you sign up, and if you ever need to cancel, there are no cancellation fees.

If you wish to get fit with pilates, then check out the Pilates House in Fells Point. Partake in their reformer classes to get a focused experience, such as from pilates fundamentals or strength & length. Private training sessions are also available and tailored to your specific needs. They even offer mat pilates, as well as hot yoga.

The Under Armour Performance Center, located in Locust Point, is another stellar place to go to get the best training possible in Baltimore. Be trained by their elite trainers to take fitness to the next level. No matter what you wish to achieve within the world of fitness, you will find a trainer or group fitness class to take you in the right direction.

If fighting is what you want to tackle in the fitness world, then check out Knockout Fitness in Federal Hill. Start out with a free class, then venture into fight club or grind classes as you become more advanced. Knockout Fitness also offers boot camp and personal training.

For those that are more familiar with spin classes, Resistance Cycle is one of Baltimore’s best spin studios, located in Harbor Point. You will be coached and trained during each class, which will help push you to your max.

For those of you that wish to get fit, but don’t have the time to travel to a gym, then check out these additional two fitness options! Jessica Hensley Yoga has live zoom sessions that can be either pre-recorded or live-streamed. There are also online yoga classes offered by Yoga Works that you can try for all levels of fitness.

Goodluck on Your Fitness Journey

No matter what you wish to do this year, we at Anthem House wish you the best of luck in achieving your fitness goals so you can feel your best in 2023 and beyond!
