Finding Your Inner Peace on International Yoga Day

Jun 21, 2021

Calling all Anthem House yoga-lovers: Monday, June 21st is International Yoga Day!

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a total amateur, take some time out of your work day to improve your mind-body connection through a mindful yoga practice.

Before you roll out your mat, spend a moment reflecting on the cultural history of yoga. Yoga originated 5,000 years ago in India and was seen as a way to connect the mind, body, and soul in order to reach enlightenment. Since then, people all over the world have begun to engage with yoga in numerous forms — from hot yoga to virtual yoga classes! To celebrate this international love and appreciation for yoga, India’s UN ambassador proposed a resolution in 2013 to establish June 21st as International Yoga Day.

Why Do Yoga?
With consistent practice, you’ll experience improved flexibility and sleep, a reduction of stress and anxiety, greater strength levels, better heart health, fewer symptoms of arthritis, and less back pain. With that in mind, start making your plans for International Yoga Day!
