October in Baltimore

Oct 16, 2022

Happy October! This is the month to celebrate Halloween, but also to raise awareness for breast cancer. Breast cancer can appear in both men and women, and it is the second most common type of cancer among women.

You can raise awareness for breast cancer right from your home here at Anthem House! Partnering with The Brem Foundation, Anthem is participating in the “On Wednesdays We Wear Pink” campaign. Different treats will be available every Wednesday of the month, and #PenniesForPink will be collected for the foundation throughout the month of October.

On to Halloween, there are several events to attend all throughout this month to get into the spooky spirit! Here in Baltimore, there is no limit to the fun you can have, or events to dress up for.

Spooky Drag Events

If you’re a big fan of drag or drag shows, then these events are perfect for you! Enjoy bottomless drinks at the Halloween Night Drag Brunch on the 21st, hosted by house queen Robyn Yamen. Tickets give you access to the drag show and a brunch or lunch entree!

At Ottobar, they are holding a Halloween Drag Show and Dance on October 29, with two drag performances. Grab a drink as you are entertained by drag queens Little Piece, Tiara Missou, and Numi Von.

If you wish to have a more interactive experience, the Ministry of Brewing is holding their own Halloween Drag Bingo on October 20, where you are able to play bingo and join in their costume contest. Categories for the contest are Most Scary, Most Funny, and Best Overall!

Parades and Parties

The twenty-third annual Great Halloween Lantern Parade & Festival is built on over twenty years of lantern making, filled with performances, an arts & crafts market, and more! Come together with the other diverse communities of Baltimore and enjoy a picnic. Feel free to also join in on the costume contest!

The 2022 SOBO Halloween Bash is celebrating its tenth annual party on Saturday, October 29th. Head down to enjoy the Penny Carnival games, live music, and food and drinks. There is also a Fall Market with SOBO’s favorite shops and live music curated by DJ Nate-mare.

Bondhouse Fells Point is hosting their second annual Spooky Costume Contest Party this year on October 29! Winners for their costume contest will receive a cash prize, so take advantage of the season and dress to your best!

If you have a costume for your pet, then head down to The Second Annual Costume PAWty at The Choptank on October 29. Grab a drink and get some pet-safe food for your dog and enjoy live music, caricature artists, and more!

On October 27, at Power Plant Live, Halloween Rally: Glow Edition is once again coming back with live entertainment, festival and bar games, glow inflatables, and more! Tickets include five drink tickets with a wide selection to choose from.

Assorted Halloween Celebrations

Head on down to The Science Center for a chance to experience Halloween “One More Time” on October 29! Tickets for this event will grant access to watch live performances at several locations with musical tributes to bands such as Daft Punk, Talking Heads, and Bob Dylan! Watch performances at the Planetarium and rooftop party by other artists such as James Nasty, Rob Macy & Baby Alcatraz, and more!

This year, experience Free Fall: AVAM's Halloween Celebration hosted by the American Visionary Art Museum on Thursday, October 27. Grab a reservation and head down to explore their exhibitions, including their newest “Abundance” exhibit!

If you’ve ever wanted to explore the bars in the Baltimore area, attend the Baltimore Halloween Crawl 2022 on October 29, where over ten bars will be participating. Put on your best costume and try out their best drink specials of the event. There will also be a raffle available to win prizes, as well as prizes for the best-dressed attendees!

Over at St. Mary’s Park, the Bike Party will be holding its Halloween Ride! With rides on the last Friday of every month, bike down through the city and end the event with a celebration at Monument City Brewing Co. Grab your costume for their costume contest and dance off at the party!
