Giving Back this Giving Tuesday in Baltimore

Nov 15, 2022

Giving Tuesday, held on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which falls on Tuesday, November 29 this year, is a celebration of generosity and gratitude. Whether that means supporting someone in need, making someone’s day, or giving a helping hand, every act of generosity counts for this day! While Giving Tuesday only lands on one day of the year, you can celebrate it all year round by giving back to the local community.

Anthem House residents: If you need some help finding giving opportunities, here are some ways you can give back to the Baltimore community this Giving Tuesday and beyond:

Blue Water Baltimore is accepting donations for Giving Tuesday, which will help them keep the waterways of Baltimore clean and clear. You can also look through their merchandise, which helps fund the organization.

All month long at the Maryland Book Bank, all donations sent will be used to purchase brand new books requested by children on their wishlist. You can also choose to purchase books on the wishlist directly.

We all deserve the ability to breathe clean air and live in a healthy environment. The Chesapeake Bay Trust works every day to make sure that that is our reality. Any donation sent to them will be paid back to communities and projects meant to save our environment.

Donations to Pro Bono Counseling will help provide mental health services to those that need them all throughout Maryland. If you choose to donate here, your donation will be matched, so your contribution will have double the impact!

The Greater Baltimore Committee is organizing donations being sent to the National Federation of the Blind. They are hosting a party, complete with food, games, music, and more

Consider sending a donation to Maryland SPCA. You can choose to send proceeds to their general fund, Brownie’s Care Fund, or to Lucy’s Community Fund. Brownie’s Care Fund pays for a broad range of health essentials to help cats and dogs get ready for their forever homes. Lucy’s Community Fund helps to keep animals with their families by giving funds to community programs that include temporary pet housing and a pet food pantry.

One important part of winter is being able to stay warm inside. You can help others find a place to stay by sending a donation to United Way of Central Maryland. Donating can also help provide coats and warm meals!

The Baltimore Humane Society is a great place to donate to this holiday season. With their donations, they can get food, pay for examinations, and fund vaccinations for shelter pets. You can even make tribute and memorial donations in honor of a beloved person or pet.

Back on My Feet is an organization that aims to combat homelessness all across the country. Getting involved with their mission can mean sending donations, attending events by running alongside them, or volunteering in many different ways.

If you want to help out with different and unique learning environments, you can send donations over to Living Classrooms. They have developed a method of learning where kids can learn from direct experiences, using environmental campuses, community centers, and more. From everything they have done, they were able to foster stronger communities and improve the lives of children.

Healthcare for the Homeless is another organization that aims to end homelessness, mainly by providing racially equitable healthcare. To give back, you can volunteer, send donations, attend their annual events, and more!

Give Back this Giving Tuesday and Beyond

We hope you’ll be able to take this opportunity to help your local Baltimore community this Giving Tuesday and in the future. From the Anthem House family to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season.
