Anthem Residents: Relax and Pour A Glass for National Red Wine Day

There’s nothing to whine about this week: Friday, August 28 is National Red Wine Day! Red wine is one of the most beloved types of wine, whether you’re a veritable connoisseur, or simply enjoy a casual glass with dinner. Studies show that red wine, in moderation, can help reduce the risk of heart disease, so there are plenty of reasons to eat, drink and be merry! Celebrate by checking out one of the many incredible wine shops or wine bars right here in our neighborhood.

Wine Shops

Celebrate National Red Wine Day by bringing home a bottle of your favorite red! Pour a glass for a fun roommates’ night in, or a Zoom call with old friends. Host your own gourmet evening by cheffing up a recipe that pairs well with red wine, or just pair your pour with some pizza and popcorn for a movie night.

Just a quick walk away from Anthem House, The Cellars in Locust Point is a great destination to stock up. They have an excellent selection of wine, and if you’re not sure what you’re looking for, their friendly staff can help guide you.

Bin 604 has moved to a new, larger location in the Liberty Harbor East building! They’ve “bin” a Baltimore favorite since the early 2000s for their fantastic selection of wines, ranging from affordable, everyday selections to exciting rare bottles. Looking for a way to try something new? Look no further than Chesapeake Wine in Canton. Their special $120 Case comes with an assortment of twelve different bottles, carefully selected by the experts on staff and approved for quality and value.

In Hampden, The Wine Source has hundreds of different wines from around the globe to choose from. Whether you prefer red or white, dry or sweet, light or full-bodied, there’s something for everyone in stock.

Wine Bars

If you prefer to spend the night out, there are lots of great local wine bars in the neighborhood as well.

Enjoy some vino at V-No in Fells Point for a relaxing evening on the waterfront! You can also take a bottle to go from the wine shop with a diverse selection of wines.

13.5% Wine Bar in Hampden is currently open for carry-out. In addition to an awesome assortment of wines, they have a great menu of elevated bar classics, like a spicy chorizo flatbread, garlic parm chicken wings, and more.

Located in historic Old Goucher, Fadensonnen is a gorgeous beer garden and wine bar. Their collection focuses on ethically-produced, small-batch drinks. Plus, there’s a great live music scene!

You can be your own bartender at Serenity Wine Cafe, right here in Locust Point. Choose from a 1, 3 or 6 ounce pour and select from an incredible selection of different wines to find your new favorite. Every Monday night is Trivia Night with Charm City Trivia!
