Spending a Spooky Halloween in Baltimore

October is finally here, and with it comes prime time for enjoying anything spooky! Halloween originates from a combination of holidays that range from an origin of paganism to the Celtics. Now, it’s considered the perfect time for activities such as pumpkin carving, dressing up in costumes, and going out for big Halloween bashes!

Here in Baltimore, there are a ton of different ways to celebrate this Halloween. We have a list of some of our favorites coming up!

Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival

The 24th annual Lantern Parade over at Patterson Park is a great way to kick off the spooky vibes for the end of the month. Held on Saturday the 21st at 4 pm, this event will have different activities, such as lantern making, a costume contest friendly for all ages, a wide variety of food and drinks, and much more!

AVAM’s Free Fall Halloween Celebration

If you’re a fan of the American Visionary Art Museum, then you need to check out their annual Free Fall Halloween event on October 26th. Free to anyone who wishes to come, this is the perfect opportunity to explore the museum and create your own little haunted house or mini monster.

Bike Party: Halloween Ride

There are two rules to this event, bike first, party second. This monthly event is taking on a Halloween theme, complete with a costume contest at the end of their party! Just head down to St. Mary’s Park on the 27th at 6:45pm.

Ottobar Halloween Market

If you’re free on the 28th, then you need to head down to this Halloween market. Stop by from noon to five, and you’ll have a chance to check out several local vendors including False Chanterelle, Muddy Glass, and Stinging Nettle Stitchery.

Sugar Skulls Workshop

The Pariah Brewing Company is hosting a fun-filled Sugar Skulls Workshop on October 24th at 7pm. Here, you can learn all about Mexican culture and learn about the art of making sugar skulls. There will also be snacks!

Spooky Square Dance & Halloween Honky Tonk

If you’ve ever wanted to try out square dancing, the Baltimore Square Dance and Baltimore Honky Tonk are throwing their own Halloween dance party on October 26th. Head down to the Baltimore Museum of Industry at 6pm and join in on the fun of dancing. Wear costumes and learn how to perform all the dances from a dance caller.

Halloween Brunch on Point

For fans of Brunch, The Point in Fells is hosting their very own Halloween brunch, where kids in costumes can eat for free and they are serving a bottomless brunch for adults! Head on over the Sunday before Halloween at 10am for a chance to get this festive deal.

Baltimore Halloween Crawl 2023

This year’s Halloween crawl will travel to over 10 Fells Point bars on October 28th starting at 1pm. If you decide to check this out, you’ll enjoy free raffles, their largest costume contest, and souvenirs, such as a spooky mug and cover-free access to the best bars in Fells Point.

Halloween Rally: Glow Edition

If you love going to Power Plant Live, then you should be excited for this year’s Halloween Rally: Glow Edition! Doors open at 10pm on October 26th, where you’ll be listening to regional DJs playing top 40s hits and the newest EDM hits. Be sure to check out the bar games, glow inflatables, get drink tickets, and more

Zoo BOO festival

The Maryland Zoo will be hosting their 40th annual Zoo BOO on October 28th and 29th. Head down any time from 10am to 4pm and check out their games, contests, and prizes available! There will also be face painting, Halloween decorations, and entertainment like magic shows.

Halloween Baltimore Concert 2023

At the Maryland Science Center on October 28th, this year’s Halloween Baltimore concert will be a Diva Dance Party! On the main stage will be artists such as Psycho Killers and Uncle Kunkel's One Gram Band. There will also be music performances in the Bluegrass Cafe, the planetarium, and the rooftop dance party. 

Black Pearl Yacht Party Cruise

The Spirit of Baltimore Yacht will be hosting their ultimate yacht party on October 28th at 11pm. Get the best view of Baltimore’s skyline from the water and party with over 300 guests all decked out in their best costumes. Just head to the Inner Harbor to board, and be sure to arrive early so you can find parking.

Spooky Science

If you’re the type of person who loves science experiments, then check out Spooky Science at the Maryland Science Center at noon on October 21st!  Make spooky shadows out of ghoulish lights and check out any other creepy experiments.

Cocktail Class: Spooky Spirits

For all alcohol lovers, check out Old Line Spirits on October 20th at 6:30 pm for a class to learn about the craft of making the perfect halloween cocktail! You’ll learn how to make two cocktails from a master mixologist that will be sure to set you in the holiday mood.

Halloween Open Bar at Barocina 

For a fun-filled night with Halloween festivities, check out the Barocina on October 28th at 10pm! Show up in your best costumes and enjoy all their best Mexican treats throughout the party.

As the weather starts to finally cool down, getting decked out in costumes and getting heated up at parties is the best way to spend the midpoint of fall. We hope that you have found something here that will put you right in the mood for a night of spooky festivities this Halloween.
