June is National Zoo and Aquarium Month and Baltimore Boasts Both

Jun 16, 2022

June marks the time of year when we begin to transition into the heat of Summer. It’s the perfect time to go outside and explore nature. June is also National Zoo and Aquarium Month, which honors the conservation and research into animals and fish that Zoos and Aquariums perform. Baltimore is lucky to have both The Maryland Zoo and The National Aquarium.

The National Aquarium

The National Aquarium is less than two miles from your home at Anthem House and you can even ride the water taxi there!

The aquarium has many different ways for everyone to experience the wonders of aquatic life. Their mission is to inspire others in enforcing the conservation of our underwater world’s treasures.

Watch a movie in 4D, learn about fish from the rainforest to the ocean, and check out any award-winning exhibits. Be sure to check out the Cephalopod Movie night on Science Friday. Best of all, Friday nights are half-priced. Visit on weekends to explore the family sunrise tour, or daily for the early access tour.

The Maryland Zoo

The Maryland Zoo is about a 15-minute drive from Anthem House. Its origins date back to the 1800s and now has the mission to engage people in the wonders of our living world.

The zoo is home to over 130 different species and has four exhibits for them all. Explore the worlds of all these animals, as well as that of the dinosaurs

Be sure to explore events like Drinking with Dinos, Movies at the Zoo, or Wine in the Wilderness

The Maryland Zoo is open rain or shine, every day of the week. Check out the Jones Falls Zephyr Train Ride while you’re there, or explore other zoo experiences, such as the penguin training!

Enjoy Summer

We hope you are able to enjoy the start of summer and head over to the zoo or aquarium this National Zoo and Aquarium month! If you do visit either (or both!) be sure to tag us in your photos, @AnthemHouseApts
