Living on the Veg: Where to Find the Best Vegetarian Food in Baltimore

Sep 29, 2021

Everybody romaine calm; World Vegetarian Day is approaching!

Keep Calm and Carrot On

World Vegetarian Day falls on Friday, October 1st, 2021 — officially kicking off the month of October. The North American Vegetarian Society founded the holiday in 1977 to promote compassion, joy, love, and awareness. In 1978, the International Vegetarian Union also celebrated “World Vegetarian Day.” Beyond showing love to animals and life, these organizations wanted to raise awareness of the benefits of consuming vegetarian fare.

If you haven’t already, consider trying a vegetarian dish in Baltimore this October 1st.

Pure Raw Juice: Our On-site Health Haven

Get veggie-friendly pressed juices, smoothies, oatmeal, and smoothie bowls right outside your front door! That’s right, Pure Raw Juice is located right at home, in Anthem A2.

Double Zero

Oh, kale yeah! Have you tried Double Zero yet? Well, if you don’t know, Double Zero is currently located in the Inner Harbor; it’s only a 5-minute drive or 25-minute walk away. Stop on by, because they’re dishing up all of your delectable Italian favorites like brick-oven pizzas, pastas, salads, and tiramisu. Best of all, all of the menu items are not only Vegetarian, but Vegan, too!

Liora

Inner Harbor’s Liora makes our heart beet. This charming restaurant is serving up all of Baltimore’s favorite fare with a veggie-friendly twist. Whether it’s brunch or dinner, Liora is guaranteed to have something for everyone. Their Old Bay Chips and Dip, “Crab” Cake, and Coconut & Banana Cream Pie are absolutely mouthwatering. And just like Double Zero, everything is Vegan!

These Plant-Based Restaurants Have Bean on our Minds

Feeling a little melon-cauli? We know just the places to cheer you up:

Friends & Family

Friends & Family has the best plant-based comfort food in all of Fell’s Point. If you’re looking for something quick, Friends & Family’s sustainable food is also great for on-the-go. They’re serving taquitos, “chicken” nuggets, potstickers, biscuits, sandwiches, burritos, tofu scrambles, salads, and cocktails, of course. And, don’t forget, everything is Vegetarian.

Gangster Vegan

Federal Hill’s Gangster Vegan Organics, located inside Cross Street Market, is a short walk away and can be your new plant-friendly go-to. They’re known for their creative and tasty options, such as: salads, burgers, bowls, pies, and OG chips. Seriously, it doesn’t get better than this. Gangster Vegan also offers juice cleanses.

Land of Kush

Land of Kush, located in Mt. Vernon, is plating up vegan soul food. Treat yourself to lentil patties, “crab” cakes, bbq “ribs,” or smoked chickun. All entrees pair well with a side of jollof rice, candied yams, collard greens, and/or baked (vegan) mac and cheese.
