Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice: The Best Pumpkin Food and Drink in Baltimore

Oct 15, 2020

A chill in the air, changing leaves, sweater weather...fall is finally here! Whether you’re looking forward to cooler temperatures or are mourning the loss of summer, there’s one thing we can all enjoy: pumpkin spice season.

From tasty baked goods, to coffee, to fun cocktails, pumpkin is a gourdgeous addition to so many foods. Sure, a PSL is great, but there are lots of yummy ways to indulge in your pumpkin cravings from local Baltimore spots that you’ll surely love a “latte.” We’ve rounded up all of our favorite pumpkin-themed food and drinks in the area to help you take advantage of the seasonal treats while they last.

Breakfast

On a chilly fall weekend, there’s nothing better than sleeping in and enjoying a warm breakfast. With that in mind, Iron Rooster in Locust Point offers breakfast all day. Be sure to check out their Pumpkin Pie RoosTart, a fun spin on childhood favorite toaster pastries, served with powdered sugar and whipped cream.

Craving a bagel? THB has pumpkin bagels, and pumpkin cream cheese, and pumpkin lattes...oh my! Stop by one of their many locations to grab some breakfast before a fun day of apple picking or hiking (or bring it back to your apartment for a cozy day in!)

Atwaters specializes in bringing farm-fresh food to your table. This fall, they’re bringing the whole pumpkin patch! Check out their pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, pumpkin bites, pumpkin pound cakes and––of course––pumpkin syrup for coffee and lattes, made with real local pumpkins.

Pastries

Looking for something a little more lavish? Sacre Sucre makes delectable pastries that will have you feel like you’re spending an autumn day in Paris. Their Saffron and Kabocha Squash Croissant Roll is an elevated, upscale take on the classic pumpkin cinnamon roll. Or, check out Café Dear Leon’s pumpkin tart with maple marshmallow, which combines the fun of s’mores with your favorite autumn-inspired flavors.

Pie Time crafts scrumptious pies year-round, but we’re particularly fond of their fall special: caramel pumpkin pie, a traditional pumpkin pie sweetened with caramel. Joe Bennys is known for their awesome Sicilian-style pizza, but you’ll definitely want to pick up dessert too: they have pumpkin cheesecake cream puffs!

You can get double the pumpkin delight in one stop at Sweetside Café. They have pumpkin macarons and pumpkin spiced lattes: it’s a match made in pumpkin patch heaven!

Ice Cream

Pumpkin treats can still be enjoyed on those hot early fall days! Try Bmore Licks, one of our favorite nearby ice cream joints. Their pumpkin oreo soft serve flavor is a perfect way to get your pumpkin fix while staying cool.

Drinks

If you want to add a little pumpkin spice to your night, too, we’ve got you covered with some of Baltimore’s best pumpkin alcoholic drinks. Sugarvale in Mt. Vernon is offering a Pumpkin Horchata made with dairy-free homemade pumpkin horchata, rum, pimento dram and nutmeg.

Or, warm up with Serenity Wine Bar’s Pumpkin Spice Sangria, perfectly paired with their pumpkin spice cake. Their pizza is perfect to take to-go and bring back to your apartment for a movie night in.

If beer is more your thing, check out Mobtown Brewing Co. in Brewers Hill. They have a keg of Grand Pumpkin beer available, a PSL-inspired stout. Or, head to Charm City Mead—they have a festive addition to their barrel-aged series: pumpkin! Check out their draft mead made with pumpkin and spices that’s been aged for 12 months in a rye whiskey barrel.
