How To Spend Your #LeapYearDay in Baltimore

Feb 26, 2020

It only happens once every four years, so what will you do with your extra day in Baltimore? Whether you use it to relax, treat yourself, or do something fun, make the most of your extra 24 hours in Baltimore this #LeapYearDay!

What is #LeapYearDay?

The standard year is 365 days, but Earth really takes 365 days 5 hours 48 minutes and 46 seconds in order to complete its journey around the sun. To balance out the extra time and maintain synchronization with the seasons, we add February 29th to the calendar once every four years.

Nearby Events

There are lots of exciting events around the city to celebrate Leap Year Day in style. We’ve curated this list of some of the most exciting happenings so that you can enjoy the bonus day in Baltimore.

Oliver Brewing is hosting a Leap Day Release event  at noon for the launch of five new beers. Check out a fresh new sip like I Wish I Was At The Yard, a Dry-Hopped Pale Ale in collaboration with Monument City Brewing Company. In the mood for something new? Try the Super Fruit Can Man, an Imperial Sour Ale brewed with lactose, tart cherry, red currant and red raspberry.

After stocking up for the past two years, Checkerspot Brewing Company is breaking out samples of every special-edition, high ABV beer they’ve ever brewed for a Big Beer Leap Year celebration. Make sure to get a ticket in advance; it’s first come first served. For more limited-edition opportunity, check out Rare Wines on a Rare Day  at Back Yard Baltimore.

Bond Street Social is also hosting a party to celebrate. Ticketed admission gets you access to an open bar with premium well mixed drinks, domestic bottled beer, house red and white wine.

Located right near Anthem House here in Locust Point, Diamondback’s Leap Day Party  is a great option close to home. They’re releasing a new Barrel-Aged Brandywine, and launching a tour and tasting program for an inside look at the brewing process. There will be live music from Nate & Friends, and discount drinks all afternoon.

Looking for a more rock ‘n roll way to spend the night? LITZ will be playing at The 8x10 , right in Federal Hill. Desmond Jones will be opening. It’s a great option to dance the day away!
